FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Women’s Swimming and Men’s / Women’s Diving Pac-12 Championships are underway at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center as Arizona wraps up night one in third place overall.

Wednesday

Diver Gage DuBois made his Pac-12 Championship debut in the men’s 1-meter event with a third place podium finish, setting the tone for the rest of the week. The red-shirt freshman scored a 357.80 in the event, followed by fifth-year Bjorn Markentin in fourth place with 355.90. This is the first of three events each diver will compete in, proving for a hopeful start to the championships.

Arizona had two relay teams competing for scoring spots this evening, one in the 200 Medley and one in the 800 Free. Following a DQ, Julia Heimstead, Julia Wozniak, Paige Armstrong and Maddy Ahluwalia were bumped from fourth to third in the 200 Medley with a time of 1:36.90- securing them a podium finish and an NCAA B cut. In the last event of the night, Julia Heimstead and Julia Wozniak were back again to swim the 800 Free alongside seniors Amalie Mortensen and Tia Lindsay. The team took fifth following a DQ, putting 54 points up on the board with a time of 7:09.02.

Thursday’s competition will begin with 500 Free, 200 IM and 50 Free preliminary rounds at 11:30 a.m. MST. Followed by men’s 3-meter prelims at 1:00 p.m, women’s 1-meter prelims at 2:45, and 1-meter finals at 5:20 MST. Swimming finals will begin at 7:00 p.m. MST and will include the men’s 3-meter championship round as well as the 200 Freestyle relay.
