MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Harrison Hong ’25 of the Wesleyan men’s swim team made history, earning a qualifying spot into the 2024 NCAA Division III Championships as the junior is set to compete in the 100 fly in Greensboro, North Carolina from March 20-23.
Hong’s first career appearance at nationals makes him the first Cardinal swimmer to qualify for NCAA’s since Ben Byers ’07 competed in the 200 free, 500 free, and 1650 free back in 2007. Harrison also becomes the first-ever Wesleyan male swimmer in team history to qualify in a sprint event.
Harrison earned his qualifying spot via his school record time of 48.12 seconds in the 100 fly achieved at the 2024 NESCAC Championships. His seed time heading into nationals is tied for the 18th-fastest heading into the competition as he will be competing alongside 36 others in the event.
The trials for the 100 fly begin on March 21 in Greensboro.
