PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Harvard Women’s Swimming and Diving sophomore Anya Mostek enjoyed a historic day, breaking two records in the same event, and then helping the 400 medley relay win an Ivy League title on Day 3 of the Ivy Championships at Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.

Mostek began her record-setting day by posting the field’s fastest time during the 100-back prelims. Her time of 52.27 established a new Ivy-meet and pool record, while improving upon her school-record time by .01 (entered the day with a program-record time of 52.28 at the Minnesota Invitational). Then with an individual conference title on the line, Mostek finished the race in 52.15 to capture the crown and rewrite the Ivy-meet and pool record books for a second time.

After a roughly 40-minute break for 3-meter diving, Mostek, along with Aleksandra Denisenko, Sydney Lu and Mandy Brenner, returned to the pool deck for the 400 medley relay. Mostek led things off and Brenner finished it as the quartet recorded a winning time of 3:33.65, edging out Princeton (3:33.76).

The Tigers enter the final day of action in first place (953 points) with Harvard sitting in second (857.5). Yale (707) and Brown (657) round out the top half of the team standings, with Penn (554.5), Columbia (448), Cornell (411) and Dartmouth (326) filling out the rest of the Ivy slots.

Prelims Notes

  • Lu and Brenner qualified for the A-final of the 100 fly after producing the third- and eighth-fastest times during the prelims. Lu finished in 53.30, while Brenner recorded an NCAA B-standard with her season-best 53.63, which ranks fifth in Harvard history.
  • Abby Carr (54.12), Addie Rose Bullock (54.26), Blythe Wieclawek (55.01) and Natalie Whalen (58.57), meanwhile, all recorded season bests in the 100 fly. Carr and Bullock advanced to the B-final. Isabella Alas (54.99) and Wieclawek earned spots in the C-final.
  • Molly Hamlin came in fourth place in the 200 free (season-best 1:47.97). The junior’s performance, which was Harvard’s best in 2023-24, landed her in the A-final. Piper Wood Prince (1:51.03) and Kristín Helga Hákonardóttir (season-best 1:51.04) qualified for the C-final.
  • In the 100 breast, Harvard had two athletes reach the A-final in Victoria Eisenhauer and Denisenko.
