GENEVA, Ohio – The Augustana swimming & diving team continued its stay at the NCAA Division II National Championships with the 200 free relay team earning All-America honors with a bronze medal performance. In addition, Bryn Greenwaldt and Nesrine Jelliti earned points for AU which sits in ninth place with one day to go.

The relay team of Greenwaldt, Angelina Chan, Makoa Montgomery and Meesha Montgomery clocked in at 1:31.97 to place third in the 200 free. The All-America honors for the group is the second relay All-America team for AU at the 2024 championships.

“Third place! That’s the best relay finish for our program in its eight-year history,” Augustana head coach Andrew Makepeace said. “That group has been incredible all year and showed out one more time. It wasn’t our school record but it was a special swim.

Greenwaldt won the ‘B’ Final of the 100 backstroke and place ninth overall with her time of 54.09. Jelliti set the school record in the 100 breaststroke in the prelims as she clocked in at 1:02.33. In the ‘B’ final, Jelliti placed second in 1:02.35 to place 10th in the nation.

“Bryn had a great night, bouncing back from a morning swim that wasn’t what she hoped for, but dominated tonight,” Makepeace added. We needed big swims from Bryn and Nesrine to put ourselves in position to make a big move up the standings tomorrow. Nesrine was amazing. Normally she would move up more spots with the school record she set! What an awesome swim and season for her.”

The duo garnered 16 points for AU with one day remaining in the competition. Augustana owns 118 points throughout the event and is seven points from eighth place and 7.5 points out of seventh place.
