The University of Stirling swimmer came second to Freya Colbert with a time of 4:36:67 – under the consideration time for Paris – with Colbert recording a personal best of 4:34:01 to secure her qualification.

“I’m really happy with that,” Shananan said afterwards “It wasn’t quite a PB but it was under the consideration time.

“It’s a long way to Paris so I’ve got a lot of work to be doing but hopefully over the summer, if I get selected, I’ll be able to get that time down.”

Meanwhile Stephen Clegg picked up gold in 100m para freestyle – beating his brother James in second place – with a qualifying time of 54.03 which is under the nomination time for the Paralympics this summer.
